ENK Children's Club - January Edition

In preparation for the year, and because the ENK staff has been so nice to invite us, we decided to visit the January edition of the Children's Club.

You see, for some time we have been playing with an idea of exhibiting at the ENK. And while it was a great show, together with awesome gift bags and free cucumber sandwich lunch (I HAVE to get the name of that caterer), the final decision is that it is really not for us. One team member said that it could be a good thing there are no other bedding exhibitors, as it would give us an edge. My theory that if there are no other bedding exhibitors, there are no bedding buyers either. Unfortunately. But, as a mom, it was great to see the new fashion trends before they hit the stores. I feel like such an industry insider now.

It's a family affiar!

Here at Woolly Boo, all the family members have a job. Kids are product testers and models, hubby is moral and financial support, one set of grandparents is in charge of production, the second set of grandparents marketing and babysitting. So, it was a fun day when several of the family members with different roles were put it one room for the sake of accomplishing a very important task - assembling of the press packets.

Needless to say, the task was accomplished speedily and with much merriment, so we heartily recommend it to all.

Artisan Marketplace at NJPAC

New Jersey Performing Arts Center is a sixth largest performing arts center in the U.S. And the fact that it is located 20 minutes from our house is certainly a huge plus. Since opening their doors in 1997, NJPAC has boasted and impressive lineup of performers in every category. Included among the artists appearing on NJPAC stages in its first thirteen seasons are the Boston Symphony Orchestra; Yo-Yo Ma; Bob Dylan; Ballet Nacional de Cuba; Lauryn Hill; Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater; Chicago Symphony Orchestra; Twyla Tharp Dance; Dance Theatre of Harlem; Israel Philharmonic; the Berlin State Opera Orchestra; the Royal Danish Ballet; Hilary Hahn; Bill T. Jones; Itzhak Perlman; the Vienna Boys Choir; Midori; Sarah Brightman; Sting; Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo; Elvis Costello; National Song and Dance Company of Mozambique; Don Henley; the Afro-Cuban All-Stars; Audra McDonald; Buena Vista Social Club; Melissa Etheridge; the Czech Philharmonic; Bette Midler; The Chieftains; Herbie Hancock; Sweet Honey in the Rock; and Diana Krall.

For this reason, we always made it a point to be aware of their schedule and attend select performance, schedule permitting. So, you can imagine my surprise when I got a call from them last September that they will be organizing Artisan Marketplace in the lobby of the Prudential Hall, where a small, curated group of artists, artisans, and crafters will be given an opportunity to showcase their products. They wanted us to be a part of it.

Of course, we jumped at this amazing opportunity, and following many schedule challenges, finally made it there this last Friday, January 21. The Artisan Marketplace was taking place during the performance of the magnificent Swan Lake by the State Theater of Russia. Definitely a must see!

Here is an image of our display:

Look for us again next Friday during the performance of South Pacific.

Dreamers into Doers Take Manhattan!

This year, for the second time, Woolly Boo founder, Selma Avdicevic, attended what is now an annual gathering of Dreamers into Doers: women who turn their passion into a business. The two day itinerary of workshops, forums, presentations, discussions, and show taping has been intense, but very satisfying. We are very grateful to the staff of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia for being such good hosts. We learned a lot and were once again amazed with your generosity. It is our sincere hope to be back next year.

It's here!

It took us a good part of the morning to get it going, but it was necessary, because we are so behind on the print jobs. After I started printing, I felt like such a hypocrite with my "Save the trees" mantra, because I feel I just killed 3. Recycled paper or not.

But, the good news is that the printer arrived at least 3 days before schedule, and it works like a charm. Enough said. Check out this baby - multitasker's dream.

Finally!

We dug the path and the stairs out, turned the heat on, started working, only to realize that the printer is no longer operational. Oh, joy! We tried everything, including giving it a good shake, but in the words of the tech support: "It's so obsolete, we don't even have a manual for it." R.I.P.

So, now, we are in the market for a new printer. I have my eye on this HP All-In-One beauty. What do you think?
