The Fall is Here...

...Already. It feels like we just hauled the air conditioners down from the attic a few days ago, and now we need to haul them up. And the winter comforters are out. It has been chilly here in New York for the last few days. Well, with Fall come some of our favorite things: turning of the leaves, Fall veggies, beautiful crisp mornings... Enjoy!

We are a FINALIST!

It is with great honor and the sense of pride we announce that Woolly Boo is a finalist in the Most Awesome Kids Green Product category in Red Tricycle’s Totally Awesome Awards. The voting runs from September 5 to October 14, and the finalist with the most votes will be the winner.
Sponsored by the giggle, Totally Awesome Awards recognize favorite kid everything, as voted by the parents, from local stores and services, to strollers and car seats, to parents groups and deal sites.

Red Tricycle is a San Francisco-based online community of parents with the mission to help parents have more fun with their kids. Whether that means throwing a super cool dinosaur birthday party, experimenting with chopsticks in a downtown noodle house, building a rocket ship out of recycled parts, or exploring the tide pools on a secluded beach. They offer ideas for cool things to see, eat, make, and do with your kids in your neighborhood. Currently, Red Tricycle has 5 communities: San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, Portland, and Seattle.

Back to School Tips

It’s that time of year again! The month of September not only marks the return of Autumn and cool weather, but the return of school as well. Proper preparation during this time can greatly enhance your child’s experience in school academically and socially. In order to start the school year off right, here are a few suggestions to help your child transition back into school life.

  • Schedule a doctor appointment. You can address any potential issues that may affect your child before the cold and flu season hits. This is also a good time to catch up on any vaccinations your child may need.
  • Buy school supplies as early as possible. Most office supplies stores start to run out of certain school supplies around the first week of school so consider starting your back to school shopping a couple weeks before school starts.
  • Clear a place at home to do homework. Set aside a place in the kitchen or family room where you can supervise and encourage your child while they do their homework.
  • Prepare their lunches the night before school. This saves time in the morning when you’re already busy making breakfast and getting your child ready for school.
  • Do not overload on after-school activities. One or two activities that teach skills and that your child enjoys will benefit them the most.

Happy Labor Day!

Like free weekends? A 40-hour work week? Like your kids going to school instead of to the factory? Then thank unions.
